Deafs & HoH
Deafs.com
When you are a deaf or hard of hearing (HoH) single, the dating scene is not the easiest community to be involved in. Your not-so-physical condition makes communication difficult and sometimes even impossible, and it is not an easy task finding an understanding single on the regular dating services websites.
Many people still perceive deafness as a disability, what makes potential partners scurry of faster that you can imagine.
Luckily, more and more dating services are specifically targeting disabled (I hate that word!) people. There are specialized communities for most of the disabilities, including deafness.
One of the largest specialty dating services for singles with a hearing problem is called Deafs.com. Deafs.com is an online dating community dedicated to helping deaf and hearing-impaired male and female singles meet other singles. The service can help you, as a single hearing-impaired single, find other singles with similar conditions in your area. Doing a search, I was able to pull up profiles from around the globe, which means there is a very big chance for anybody to find a match close by.
Deafs.com’ site has one of the most basic interfaces I have seen until now. The search option is easy to use, although you will have to upgrade to the Gold Membership to be able to do a full search using your preferences. The free basic membership only allows you to search on gender, age and area.
One very nice, and much used, option on Deafs.com is the possibility to create blog posts. The feature needs some cosmetic work, but the idea is very good, especially for hearing-impaired people!
Since there is no facility to leave voice messages, for obvious reasons, the mail and chat options are the main means of communication on Deafs.com.
The mail facility is clean and friendly to use, as may be expected. The chat box pops up on your screen and is very basic and user-friendly.
An option I would like to see on more online dating services is the suggestion box. Good suggestions are being rewarded with cash bonuses or six-month Gold memberships! This would imply that suggestions are taken very seriously.
Overall, it really looks like Deafs.com is on its way making dating for hearing-impaired singles a lot easier. Making the service a success is up to you as a member! Deafs.com gets a big thumbs up for making a difference in a niche market in the dating service arena!
Deafs.com - the best deafs dating site!
